Digital RealmsSince my daughter has graduated high school, she wanted to pick Final Fantasy XIV back up. I fired up my trial account to tag along.
Some observations:
1) It's a very pretty game, and plays well on old hardware.
2) There are
a lot of players. We ended up rolling characters on one of the less popular servers, but it is still so populated that there are queues. This may be from the new expansion recently launching, or not.
3) I have a hard time getting into it at first. The starter quests (to me) are quite boring. I may have skipped the quest text for most of them. Now at level 9, its starting to become more interesting.
4) At level 9, I still only have 3 combat buttons, a heal, and a summon for my pet. So combat is apply DOT 1. Apply DOT 2. Press 1 to nuke (repeat until dead). Hoping this gets more complex at some point.
5) Trial accounts are unable to add people to friend lists or whisper, which sucks.
