After
limiting playtime in Anarchy Online until the end of June, I noticed that Ubisoft was offering The Division 2 on sale due to E3.
I am a
fan of the first game. The culmination of all the later patches together, along with the Survival DLC made for a fun and occasionally heart pounding experience.
So far, the controls and gunplay are refined. The setting will take some getting used to. The original game had you jumping into snowy New York city two months after a weaponized smallpox strain killed off 90% of the citizenry. The snowy setting, and freshly abandoned buildings added to the dread and feeling that you were responding to a disaster. The sequel takes place six months later, in July. Washington DC is experiencing a hot summer, and had flooded. Its overgrown, swampy, and more akin to something you would see in The Walking Dead. So far most of my missions in the game have been assisting survivors who have built a settlement atop a theater.
I have just cleared the first little "zone" after the White House. For all the improvements, I am also somewhat happy that some of the old physics bugs from the first game are still around. It makes for amazing screenshots. Take for example, the fellow below. I'm not sure what he was doing... Pay no mind to the Team Fortress-esque textures. This is due to a video issue that went away after I rebooted.
